Our Class

Welcome to the Foundation Stage 1- Meerkats class! I am the class teacher, Mrs Woolley is our nursery nurse and Mrs White is our teaching assistant. In Nursery, we encourage our children to be enthusiastic and eager to learn. Our provision is highly stimulating and provides rich and imaginative experiences for all children. Each half term is linked to a child centered topic that enhances the children's development in all areas of the EYFS.

Topic

This half term our topic will be "Poles Apart". We will be looking at and comparing what life is like in cold and hot countries and what types of animals live there. We will also be looking at lifecycles and food chains. Within the EYFS we will always be looking closely at what is happening in the world around us such as; Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday, The Big Garden Bird Watch and Valentines Day. We will use these themes, events and changes to inspire our learning and provision. 

Keeping Updated

Our staff strongly believe that it is important for parents to contribute to their child’s learning and development. Follow us on Twitter @SunnyfieldsEYFS for regular updates throughout the day. We also use an app called ‘Evidence Me’ which allows you to share amazing moments that you have at home with us. We really do enjoy seeing what the children get up too and it is a vital part of your child’s journey here in Nursery and Reception.

Home Learning

Each half term we will be sending a topic web home with details about what the children are going to be learning and where they are in terms of their development. We will also send a home learning web that will encourage your children to engage with our topics at home as well as in school. As well as these homework tasks, we encourage you to read as much as possible with your child at home.
