Admissions

Admission to Nursery and School

 

Admissions to school are made through Doncaster Council.  Follow the link for more information on admissions. The school has a Pupil Access Number (PAN) of 40. This means that the maximum year group size if forty pupils. The children are arranged into classes of no more than thirty children in Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One.  In Key Stage 2 the maximum class size is thirty two children. 

Mixed Class and Single Age Admission Policy

The school has both single aged classes and mixed age classes. The school has therefore established criteria to place the children in classes. The criteria are set out below;

 

Foundation Stage

On entering Foundation Stage 2 the children will be taught in either a single aged Foundation Stage 2 Class or a mixed Foundation Stage and Year 1 Class. On splitting the children between the classes the school will look at their month of birth and the amount of children in both year groups. Account will be taken for those children with special educational needs to ensure their requirements are met accordingly.

 

Key Stage 1

Children will be taught in three classes. These will consist of a mixed Foundation Stage 2/Year 1 class, a mixed Year 1 /2 class and a Year 2 class. On splitting the children between the classes the school will look at their month of birth and the amount of children in both year groups. Account will be taken for those children with special educational needs to ensure their requirements are met accordingly. The older Year 2 children will be placed in the Year 2 class and the younger Year 2 children will be placed in the mixed age class. Similarly, the older Year 1 children will be in the mixed age class and the younger Year 1 children in the Foundation Stage 2/Year 1 class. All classes will follow the same topics and learning objectives taken from the National Curriculum.

 

Key Stage 2

Children will be taught in five classes. These will consist of a Year 3 class, a mixed Year 3/4 class, a mixed Year 4/5 class, a mixed Year 5/6 class and a Year 6 class. On splitting the children between the classes the school will look at their month of birth and the amount of children in year groups. Account will be taken for those children with special educational needs to ensure their requirements are met accordingly. The younger Year 3 children will be placed in the Year 3 class and the older Year 3 children placed in the mixed age class. The younger Year 4 children will be placed in the mixed Y3/4 class and the older Year 4 children will be placed in the mixed Y4/5 class. The younger Y5 children will be placed in the mixed Year 4/5 class and the older Year 5 children will be placed in the Year 5/6 class. The same criteria will be used in Year 6. All classes will follow the same topics and learning objectives taken from the National Curriculum to match their academic year. Teaching will be age appropriate.

 

Standards of teaching, learning and expectation will be consistent in all classes and will be monitored regularly by the Senior Leadership Team.

 

Classes will be set by the school and will not be subject to any change..
