''Respect, challenge, enquiring mind and confident''

FS2 Zebra

Zebra Class  - Foundation Stage 2

Miss Butterfield

Welcome to Foundation Stage 2!

Welcome back Zebra Class and to our learning journey during our second spring term. This term is one of my favourites in school as we enjoy exploring the natural world around us noticing the signs of Spring. In class we continue with the same members of staff. Myself as the class teacher and Miss Calvert and Miss Wortley as our class teaching assistants. Miss Butler will cover my PPA and ECT time on a Friday.

Our class PE day will be on a Tuesday, please send your child in their PE kits on this day. At Sunnyfields our PE kits consists of a plain white t-shirt and black or navy leggings, jogging bottoms and jumpers. Shorts can be worn when the warmer weather arrives.

We are very lucky to have access to a wonderful outdoor area and our own woodland which we love to access as much as possible so please send your child to school with weather appropriate clothing, such as sun hats, rain coats or wellies, which can be left in their bags on their pegs. We also have a welly rack where wellies can be left if you are happy to do so.

Our provision is highly inspiring and provides children with rich learning opportunities and experiences linked to a main theme. Each half term we will be sending a topic web home with details about what the children are going to be learning, and a home learning web which will provide children with extended learning opportunities. We will continue our Poles Apart topic this half term where we will be comparing our learning of the Arctic and Antarctica to the continent of Africa. We will spend time focusing on The Big Five African animals and look at their characteristics and habitats. Within the EYFS we will always be looking closely at what is happening in the world around us such as; Ramadan, Easter and Spring Equinox. We will use these themes, events and changes to inspire our learning and provision.

We strongly believe that it is important for parents to contribute to their child’s learning and development. Follow us on Twitter @SunnyfieldsEYFS for regular updates. We also use an app called ‘Evidence Me’ which allows you to share amazing moments that you have at home with us. We really do enjoy seeing what the children get up too and it is a vital part of your child’s journey here in Nursery and Reception.

At Sunnyfields, we spend a lot of time developing our Sunny Six Skills, within the EYFS these are particularly important as we strongly believe each child should be confident and independent within their own learning journey.  If you have any queries, please do not hesitate in coming to see me.

Wishing all the children an amazing start to their journey at Sunnyfields!
