Community Champion
Community Champion
Welcome to the Community Champion page, my name is Sarah Wortley and I am Sunnyfields Community Champion!
What is a Community Champion?
My role is to support the education, health and wellbeing of our pupils in school and to organise events and raise awareness and support of the school within the community.
My aim is also to improve the quality of curriculum and non-curriculum provision by applying for funding.
My work so far
Since starting my role in May 2022 I have achieved some amazing things with the help of our children, families and the community.
Here are some of the projects we have worked on together:
Bentley Baptist Community Food Bank
In November 2022, Bentley Baptist Community Food Bank came in to school to do an assembly to speak to the children about the current need for Food Banks, how they run it, what items they require. From this some of the children then designed some leaflets and posters and we organised a collection that was then donated to the Bentley Baptist Community Food Bank just before Christmas to help members of the community that are struggling during the cost of living crisis. St Peters Uniform Bank
In December 2022 St Peters Uniform Bank asked us if we could reach out to our families and ask for any donations of unused uniform. Sunnyfields did not disappoint and we were able to make a large donation to St Peters so that they could distribute it to families that needed it. I have also introduced some fundraising opportunities like the Sunnyfields School Lottery, Bag2School collections and Easyfundraising. Why not head over to our Fundraising page for more details:
