YR6 - Clovers
Clovers
Welcome to Clover Class! We are a fantastic group of 31 Year 6 pupils, supported by our class teacher, Miss Lumley, and our teaching assistant, Miss Szostak.
Year 6 is an exciting and important year, and we are looking forward to a year filled with learning, new challenges, memorable experiences and plenty of opportunities to grow. In Clover Class, we encourage everyone to aim high, support one another and be proud of their achievements.
Our Learning
Throughout Year 6, we will build on all the knowledge and skills we have developed during our time at primary school. We will challenge ourselves, become increasingly independent learners and develop the confidence to tackle new experiences.
We know that learning is not always easy, so we encourage everyone in Clover Class to dig deep, persevere and remember that mistakes are an important part of learning. Through our day to day routines and learning, we use the GARDEN values to underpin our learning and behaviour expectations.
Our Autumn Class Text
Our class text for the Autumn term is The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf.
This thoughtful and engaging story will give us lots of opportunities for discussion, reading and writing. It explores important themes including friendship, kindness, belonging, empathy and the experiences of refugees.
As we explore the story together, we will think carefully about its characters, themes and messages and use it to inspire some of our learning across the curriculum.
PE Days – Autumn 1
During Autumn 1, our PE sessions will take place on:
Wednesday – Indoor PE
Thursday – Outdoor PE
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit in school and are prepared for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Working Together
We believe that children achieve their best when school and home work together. We encourage our pupils to take increasing responsibility for their learning, organisation and belongings as they prepare for the next stage of their education. Maths homework will be set through MyMaths weekly, spellings will be given on Fridays and practise activities will be set through Edshed.
A Great Year Ahead
There is so much to look forward to in Year 6! We want every member of Clover Class to feel happy, confident and proud of what they achieve. Together, we will Grow Together, ensure we All Belong, show Respect for All, Dig Deep, Express Ourselves and Nurture Kindness.
We can't wait to see what Clover Class will achieve this year!
