School Uniform – Clarification on Branded Items and Cost Expectations

At Sunnyfields, we are committed to ensuring that our school uniform is accessible, affordable, and fair for all families. In line with the Department for Education (DfE) statutory guidance on the cost of school uniforms, we work to keep costs as low as possible and avoid any unnecessary expense.

To support this:

  • Branded uniform items are entirely optional.
While families may choose to purchase items featuring the school logo, standard, non-branded versions of all required uniform items are fully acceptable.
  • We do not require any branded or specialist items to ensure parents can buy uniform from a range of retailers.
  • Pre-loved uniform is made available throughout the year to further reduce costs and promote sustainability.

Our aim is that no child is disadvantaged due to the cost of uniform. We regularly review our uniform policy to ensure it continues to meet the expectations set out in the DfE School Uniform Guidance.

If you have any questions or require support with uniform, please contact office@sunnyfields.doncaster.sch.uk

Following 2018 research that showed 20% of the UK population were living in poverty, The Clothing Bank founders, Susan and Sally, both felt that there was a gap in the support available to those struggling to afford clothes. Having both experienced poverty before, Susan as a child and Sally as an adult, they decided to embark on mission to bridge this gap, thus forming The Clothing Bank charity in January 2020.

We know it’s not easy for people to reach
out when they’re in need. That’s why it’s absolutely crucial to us that we take the time to listen, care and behave in down-
to-earth yet professional manner.

In doing this, we aim to break down some of the mental barriers we have as a society with asking for help – because everyone deserves the right to have good quality clothing.

When people support us, we can support others. From donors, fundraisers, volunteers and sponsors, we understand that we would truly be nothing without the people who rally behind us, every step of the way.

It’s this togetherness that enables us
to continue helping people fulfil their potential through preloved and new clothing.

We know that clothing is so much more than just functional. What we wear identifies us, it’s an extension of our personalities.

Without access to quality clothing, people’s self-confidence can dwindle, leading to societal isolation. In providing good quality clothing to those struggling to afford it, we aim to empower and transform their lives.
