Snowdrops - Year 2

Miss Beaumont

Miss Beaumont

Welcome to Snowdrops

We are feeling very lucky to be teaching such a fabulous group of children. Together we will be working hard to get each and every individual child in our class to reach their full potential. Following our Garden Values, we will: Grow Together, ensure we All Belong, show Respect for All, Dig Deep, Express Ourselves and Nurture Kindness. We have a very fun and busy year ahead and we are excited to watch you all learn and grow.

About the Class

Snowdrops are located near the KS2 playground just off the KS2 assembly hall. Our teacher is Miss Beaumont and Ms Calvert is our Teaching Assistant. Mrs Atkinson also teaches in Snowdrops too.

PE Days

Our class PE days are currently Monday and Tuesday. Children will need to come to school wearing a suitable PE kit with any earrings removed or covered. Thank you.

Phonics and Spelling

Phonics continues to be a very important part of Year 2. We will continue to follow the Little Wandle programme and practise reading and spelling words containing the sounds we have been learning.

Homework & Reading:

Little Wandle phonics homework sheets will be sent home weekly. These will give you an opportunity to practise the sounds, words and skills that your child has been learning in school.

The children will all continue to bring home a reading book and we ask that you sign their yellow planners to let us know if they have finished the book or what page they have read up to. We are keen to develop fluency so we like to encourage children to re-read their books before changing them. We ask that children read at home at least three times a week. If they have read three times or more over the week, they will receive 2 reading dojos.

As well as this, each child has a username and password that is placed in their planner. for Times Tables Rock Stars and Numbots, which they can access at home for extra maths activities. We would like all children to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times table off by heart. Additional activities may also be sent home when appropriate.

Continuous Provision

The children will continue to have access to continuous provision opportunities each week to enhance their learning experience and build on from their learning journey in Year 1. We are very lucky to have an outdoor area too, which is used throughout the year.

Class Dojo

Please make sure you check any information on Class Dojo so you can see any messages or information we post about the class on there.

Snack Time

If your child has milk through the ‘Cool Milk’ scheme then they will have this at playtime. Children can bring a water bottle to school and we kindly ask that it only contains water. In KS1 we have fruit for the children daily but they may bring a fruit snack from home should they wish.

Working Together

We are always happy to help. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak with us or message on Class Dojo.

Thank you
