Tiger Class - Year 5 and Year 6
Rising up to the challenge
In Tiger Class, we have 32 enthusiastic and supportive children and our passionate teacher Miss Smith. We are also extremely lucky to be supported by the amazing Miss Herring, who helps us in anyway; big or small. In Year 5 and 6, we work hard, even when things are tough. We work independently but also in a team, and we always have as much fun as possible. We spend a lot of time developing our Sunny Six skills through exciting and engaging topics and activities.
It is also a very important year for some of our class as our Year 6s, prepare to make their move to Secondary School and to take their SATs tests. Even though our Year 5s are not taking their tests this year, we also help the Year 6s prepare by helping them stay calm, stay resilient and offer support.
In our class, you have to be prepared to work really hard as the work can be very challenging but we love finding out new facts and working on new skills. We know that some things in life will be difficult but if we stick at it and don’t give up, we will be successful in everything we do.
We ask that you sign their planners to let us know if they have finished the book or what page they have read up to. We are keen to develop fluency so we like to encourage children to re-read their books before changing them. We ask that children read at least three times a week at home. All children have access to a reading for pleasure book alongside their banded reading book.
