Welcome to Foundation Stage 2!
In Zebra Class this year, we are very lucky to have 31 fantastic children. There will be some amazing staff supporting us to learn, grow and thrive throughout our time as Zebra’s – Mrs Ogden, Mrs Calvert, Mrs White and Mrs Butler. Our provision is highly inspiring and provides children with rich learning opportunities and experiences linked to a main theme. Each half term we will be sending a topic web home with details about what the children are going to be learning, and a homework booklet which will provide children with extended learning opportunities.
This half term is going to be fun packed as we start the New Year ready to learn! The children will be learning lots of new and exciting information, accessing a wide range of hands on activities.
Our new topic this half term is based around Animals and Africa. The children will be learning about different animals and having a visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They will also find out about Africa and how it is different to where we all live in Scawthorpe.
Alongside this, the children will be focusing on specific stories to enhance their learning.
The children will be continuing with Phase 3 phonemes and tricky words in their daily phonics lessons and our numeracy focus is related to simple addition and subtraction.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park Wednesday 5th February 2020.
Forest school will be held on a Tuesday evening. This is an exciting and engaging opportunity for children to take their learning outdoors, to engage in hands-on experiences with the natural world around us. If your child is involved in this club, please remember to bring a spare change of clothes, waterproofs and wellies as the children will be outside in all weather!
At Sunnyfields, we spend a lot of time developing our Sunny Six Skills, within the EYFS these are particularly important as we strongly believe each child should be confident and independent within their own learning journey.
Zebra Class is a place where children feel safe and secure. We pride ourselves as one team. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate in coming to see us.
Wishing all the children an amazing Spring 1!
